About

Hi. My name is Michael Alcantara. I graduated from Seattle University in June 2009  receiving a BA in Fine Arts (Digital Design Emphasis) and a BA in Humanities.

I am a graphic artist, but that moniker alone fails to satisfy the aim of my work. More precisely, I make connections and build relationships through the composition of visual images and/or type.

Proficient in both digital illustration and producing layouts, my goal is to connect with the unidentified, the nameless, and the unknown. This has been manifest in forms including logos, posters, brochures, banners, and apparel.

American historian, Daniel Boorstin, once said, “An image … is not simply a trademark, a design, a slogan or an easily remembered picture. It is a studiously crafted personality profile of an individual, institution, corporation, product or service.”

For this reason, I strive to identify the anonymous, to immerse myself in the abundance things outside of myself, and create from what I can gather. It is my ultimate hope to affirm the personality, profile, individual, institution, corporation, product, or service that I present in my work.

Love,

Michael
